Welcome
Hi! I'm Matt, a random geek from Bristol, England. This is my personal site, which tells you a little about me and what I do.
Journalism
My articles have been published on websites ranging from the BBC to Null Hypothesis, the Journal of Unlikely Science.
My specialist subject is technology, but I've been known to branch out into everything from hard science to books and literature.
I've also just finished contributing articles to a book that should be published later this year.
Geekery
I've been fiddling with computers since I was eight. I've managed to get paid for it since I graduated from Warwick in 1994. I'm especially interested in user interface design.
Over the years, I've worked for Admiral Computing, NatWest, the Royal Bank of Scotland group, Zurich Financial Services and a few others. These days I'm a business systems analyst for a non-profit private healthcare insurer in Bristol.
Unique Sentences
Unique sentences are sentences that come up in conversation that you just know have never been said before. I run a website that records them for posterity, inventively called Unique Sentence.
Other Stuff
As well as writing, I enjoy playing guitar, taking photos and occasionally painting and drawing. For exercise, I enjoy walking, and I'm a brown belt in karate.
